Richard Brody puts in his two cents on the An Education controversy - For what it's worth, as much as I love Brody, I think he's totally off on this one. He rightly says 'duh' to the notion that a character can be Jewish and a bad dude, but then he asks for the filmmakers to provide an on-screen example of a 'good Jew' - as though that wouldn't be patronizing to the point of confirming the anti-Semites' prejudices.
Mentioned on this blog a few weeks ago and fresh from Sundance, Rodney Ascher's experimental documentary The S from Hell, about logophobia, modernist design and music, and the subtle effects of Cold War tension (warning to the squeamish about bugs and snakes - it gets a bit heavy near the end):

The S From Hell looks awesome, but that’s yet another trailer that’s so long that I feel no need to really watch the film.
