Friday Song Download! Candy Dulfer – “On and On”
Not a lot of posts this week, but I'll make up for it next week -- in the meantime, here's this week's Friday Song Download.
Candy Dulfer is a Dutch saxophonist who's played with Prince, Van Morrison, and Dave Stewart and had a successful solo career as the leader of her own band, Funky Stuff. She's won a Grammy, toured the world, and topped numerous international charts for her defiantly upbeat brand of jazz-funk. Her newest release, Funked Up and Chilled Out!, is a double-disc of smooth-jazz funk that sounds like the house band at the best late '80s comedy club. "On and On" is one of the my favorite cuts on the track, and at terrific showcase for Dulfer's ease with the alto sax and strong melodic sensibility.
